Technical all-rounder: CTO for machine learning in poultry farming – increasing performance through improved animal welfare/also available part-time (m/f/d)

Are you ready to become part of a company that is revolutionizing livestock farming

and is an industry leader in precision livestock farming?

VetVise develops machine learning systems that record and analyze livestock behavior around the clock—right in the barn. Our camera systems detect stress, abnormalities, and changes in pigs and poultry in real time. This allows us to improve animal welfare and profitability at the same time.

Our team is interdisciplinary: agricultural science, animal husbandry, data science, frontend, backend, system administration, and machine learning—and at the center of it all is our CTO, who holds everything together technically. We are looking for you to support this very CTO.

Your role

You will work directly with our CTO Jakob, supporting him operationally and technically. You will take on tasks from our project management system, distribute them or implement them yourself, depending on the type. You will keep track of open tasks, take care of minor IT issues within the team and ensure that the technical infrastructure runs smoothly in day-to-day business.

This is not purely a developer role, but a very practical tech function with a lot of responsibility, independence, and a direct line to technical management.

Your tasks

  • Acceptance, prioritization, and implementation of technical tasks (from our project management system)

  • Supporting the CTO in operational matters, organization, and overview

  • Coordination between frontend, backend, data science, and system operations

  • Taking on smaller technical tasks (e.g., access, devices, simple admin tasks)

  • Monitoring open tickets/tasks – and making sure they don't get left behind

  • Collaborating on technical decisions, documentation, and day-to-day business

  • Troubleshooting minor system problems (locally or remotely)

Your profile

  • Basic technical understanding, ideally with experience in software, IT, or infrastructure

  • You don't have to be a full-time developer, but you must be able to think logically, get stuck in, and take responsibility

  • Self-organized, reliable, hands-on

  • Experience with Jira or similar project management systems desirable

  • Clear communication, overview of technical contexts

  • You're not above solving “mundane” problems – the main thing is that everything works again

What we offer

  • Close collaboration with the technical management of a growing AI startup

  • The diverse range of tasks will allow you to gain experience in all areas – making you valuable for long-term development in our team

  • A lot of personal responsibility and direct impact on day-to-day business

  • A tech environment that is both professional and pragmatic

  • Remote work option and flexible working hours

  • Fair pay, open culture, short communication channels
